Baima Base is a multi-functional base integrating teaching, scientific research, social service and cultural inheritance, modern agricultural science and technology park and environment-friendly ecological park. The university carries the functions of personnel training, scientific research, incubation of scientific and technological achievements, industrialization of agricultural high-tech, demonstration and promotion of modern agricultural science and technology, international joint RESEARCH and development and technology transfer, innovation and entrepreneurship of college students, training of modern agricultural talents, agricultural popular science education, agricultural leisure tourism and so on.

Since 2016, Baima Base has been undertaking practical teaching tasks for undergraduates of agriculture-related majors of the university. At present, more than 3,000 undergraduates from 10 colleges have been stationed in the base to carry out undergraduate teaching practice each year. School has accumulated in various scientific research funds of 800 million yuan, state key laboratory of crop genetic and germplasm innovation, national center for soyabeans, national agricultural information engineering center, national organic fertilizer engineering technology research center, national pear improvement center of nanjing branch, national GuoMei Yang mei germplasm nursery center, ministry of agriculture of fresh pork processing technology integration and so on more than 10 countries Major scientific research platform and major agricultural technology promotion projects of the Ministry of Agriculture are stationed in the base. At present, there are more than 70 research teams involved in 165 research projects. Every year, more than 400 teachers, including academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, nearly 30 national specially invited experts, Cheungkong Scholars, winners of national Science Foundation for Distinguished Young Scholars, and more than 12,000 doctoral and master students, come to the base to carry out scientific research and experiments. In recent five years, Baima base has produced more than 500 patents, cultivated and introduced more than 200 new varieties, published hundreds of high-level papers, and trained more than 100 masters and doctoral students.
