Covering an area of 3255 mu, baima Teaching and Scientific Research Base of Nanjing Forestry University aims at major scientific issues of modern forestry with the guiding ideology of "based on the subtropical region of south China and radiating to the whole country". Systematic research focuses on germplasm collection and creation of new germplasm, directional cultivation and sustainable management of artificial forests, prevention and control of main forest diseases and insect pests, and forestry ecological engineering and ecosystem management, aiming to build an internationally advanced and domestic first-class forest science and technology innovation, display and transformation. It is a demonstration base for modern forestry scientific research, production and promotion with the functions of landscape display, forestry scientific research, training and popular science education.

Baima Base is mainly divided into six functional areas: tree specimen area, facility cultivation area, scientific research demonstration area, ecological observation area, production extension and public service area.

The base has entered 42 national and provincial scientific research projects. It has been approved to construct "Nanjing Baima Sub-tropical Modern Forestry National Long-term Scientific Research Base", "Ginkgo I Cheng Technical Research Center", "Jiangsu Asia There are 6 major scientific research platforms, such as tropical High-quality Forest Germplasm Resource Preservation Center, State Forestry Administration Bamboo Resource Cultivation Engineering Technology Research Center, Nanjing Lishui District Osmanthus Tree Germplasm Resource Bank, And Qian Liu Tree Germplasm Resource Bank.
